From the recording Shadow Puppets

Lyrics

Wait a little longer until the watchman’s gone to bed, dreaming of crowns he’ll ever feel about his head. We’ll cast shadow puppets on their tobacco stained walls and throw our voices down their newly whitewashed halls.

Oh my heart, oh my heart has flown.

The tangles of your hair are damp with morning mist. A withered mandrake now lies screaming in your fist. Come huddle round the altar where as children we kneeled and pray for the shepherds whose tents are burning in the field.

Oh my heart, oh my heart has flown.

Oh my heart, oh my heart has flown.

The wolves once outside howling now pour through the doors. Wind that shook the willow brings rafters to floors. Will you stand beside me in noonday sun? And will you stand behind me when fighting has begun?

I want to run. I want to hide but I just laugh to veil the fear inside.
